The Capital Region's Ultimate Fall Retreat For Families
The leaves are finally changing all over the Capital Region and fall is in full-swing! From picking apples to picking pumpkins, fall bucket lists are being filled to the brim, much like warm cups of cider. But while you may be checking off all of the typical fall activities on your list, there's one unique autumn affair you may want to pencil in for November 19:
WHAT IS THAT?
The Petite Retreat is an annual luxury baby show that takes place right here in Saratoga Springs. What began as a two-person collaboration between Amber Chaves, owner of The Bundle Store, and Ilissa Goman (owner of BINX), has quickly grown into a team-run modern parenting expo, "where parents [are] able to learn from a huge variety of experts, meet with local and national companies, and get to experience some of the baby products that aren’t always available locally," Goman explains.
The Petite Retreat team now also includes Colleen Pierre, owner of SaratogaMama, and Maggie Lashinsky, owner of 518 Breastfeeding Mamas.
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
The show is an all-day event, running from 10a-3p with more than sixteen workshops scheduled. "This year’s workshops include everything from sleep, to baby wearing, to healthy food choices + nutrition, learning with preschoolers, and a ton more!" Goman shares.
In case you're concerned about attending workshops with the littles in-tow, have no fear: the event is family friendly!
"We welcome the littles to attend! At the National Museum of Dance there is actually a really great children’s area where they’re welcome to play. Most vendors are super friendly with all the kids, too," Goman assures, adding: "One of our sponsors, Saratoga Independent School, is hosting a great workshop on cultivating curiosity for preschoolers, which I would say is a must attend workshop for those with older toddlers and preschoolers."
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
When it comes to attending The Petite Retreat this year, you have a couple of options!
- Base Camp tickets are only $25, and each ticket admits TWO adults (kids attend free!). These tickets are sold up to the day of the Retreat and will also be available at the door.
- If you're in it for the swag, The Petite Retreat has you covered with VIP upgrade bags available for purchase in addition to your Base Camp ticket. According to Goman:
The upgrade bags each come with a carrier and are age-based. So we have a bag geared towards pregnancy-6m old stage that includes a variety of products plus a Happy Baby Carrier. The 6m-18m bags include a super comfy carrier from XOXO Baby and a ton of other products. The value of the upgrade bags is over $300 each, but the add-on of a bag is just $100.
What a steal! Unlike the Base Camp tickets, VIP upgrades must be purchased in advance (deadline is November 1).
- In case you missed it mentioned earlier, the show will be at The National Museum of Dance in Saratoga Springs, NY on November 19!
- Last but not least, even if you attended The Petite Retreat last year, it's worth it to add it to your fall to-do list once again, as the material is always changing! "Every year I tell parents they will be sad they missed it. We have parents who have now attended every year. We really try and keep the show new and fresh every year, with new workshops, new experiences, new bags, yummy food and more," Goman shares. "We want you to leave TPR feeling like you now have the knowledge and the resources to make choices that are right for your family, and that you feel empowered in your parenting."
I will personally be attending with my little as a guest this year, and I would love to see you there!
